Travel Awards Application

Apply now for SFS Early Career travel awards for the 2018 meeting!

The Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) is pleased to announce that the Early Career (EC) committee is accepting applications for 3 travel awards ($1000 each) for EC members to attend the 2018 meeting in Detroit. Funding for these awards was graciously provided by SFS President Colden Baxter, from Presidential Discretionary Funds. The awards are to be used by recipients to defray travel costs to attend the annual SFS meeting, including transportation, lodging, and registration fees.

Application Criteria:
  • Applicant MUST be an Early Career Member of SFS (≤10 years since terminal degree) and have a current SFS membership at the time of application.
  • Applicant MUST attend the SFS annual meeting and give a presentation, with preference given to oral presentations.
  • An EC member can only receive one travel award during their tenure as an SFS EC member.
  • If the applicant receives an EC travel award, they are encouraged to serve on the EC travel award selection committee in the following year.

Briefly describe your involvement in SFS, specifically focused on current service to SFS. This can include, but is not limited to, leading a special session at the annual meeting, serving on an SFS committee, serving as an SFS mentor (i.e., INSTARS mentor), editorial board member, serving as a presentation judge, etc.
