Andreas (ANDY) Leidolf

Andreas (Andy) Leidolf is the Executive Director of the Society for Freshwater Science, a position he has held since 2017. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Director and Project Administrator of iUTAH EPSCoR, a 6-year, $24M research, training, education, and outreach program funded by the National Science Foundation to provide a secure water future for the state of Utah; and involving over 800 participants, eleven institutions of higher education, and over 100 partner institutions and organizations, including K-12, museums and other non-profits, state and federal agencies, and private industry. When he is not serving SFS, Andy coordinates the Honors Program at Utah State University full-time.

 

To all of these endeavors, Andy brings over 25 years of experience in the conduct, transmission, and administration of ecological research. He holds a B.S. degree summa cum laude in Forestry/Wildlife Management from Mississippi State University, and a M.S. degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Ecology from Utah State University. He has extensive experience in scientific communication, collaboration, and community management, particularly with large, interdisciplinary, and cross-institutional research teams. He was an inaugural 2017 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s Community Engagement Fellowship Program and a Visiting Fellow and Scholar at the Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement at AAAS.
