Andreas (ANDY) Leidolf
Andreas (Andy) Leidolf is the Executive Director of the Society for Freshwater Science, a position he has held since 2017. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Director and Project Administrator of iUTAH EPSCoR, a 6-year, $24M research, training, education, and outreach program funded by the National Science Foundation to provide a secure water future for the state of Utah; and involving over 800 participants, eleven institutions of higher education, and over 100 partner institutions and organizations, including K-12, museums and other non-profits, state and federal agencies, and private industry; and as Coordinator of the Utah State University Honors Program. When he is not serving SFS, Andy serves as Associate Director of the the Utah Forest Restoration Institute in the Department of Wildland Resources at Utah State University in a full-time capacity.
To all of these endeavors, Andy brings over 30 years of experience in the conduct, transmission, and administration of ecological research. He holds a B.S. degree summa cum laude in Forestry/Wildlife Management from Mississippi State University, and a M.S. degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Ecology from Utah State University. He has extensive experience in scientific communication, collaboration, and community management, particularly with large, interdisciplinary, and cross-institutional research teams. He was an inaugural 2017 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s Community Engagement Fellowship Program and a Visiting Fellow and Scholar at the Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement at AAAS.
