Omar Pérez-Reyes
Professor affiliated with the Department of Environmental Sciences and Scientific director of El Verde Field Station at the University of Puerto Rico. I investigate the biogeography, conservation, toxicology, and ecology of Neotropical freshwater species, focusing on the impact of climate change and human activities on species diversity, abundance, and distribution in tropical streams. My work particularly emphasizes the unique endemic species of Caribbean freshwater ecosystems and how rapid environmental changes affect their communities and ecosystems. Through this research, I aim to understand the ecological dynamics of habitats undergoing significant transformation.
